2 month appointment

Alex and Aiden had their 2 month appointment yesterday.

Alex:
  • 10 pounds 2 ounces and 20 inches long
  • We will need to watch carefully for ear and sinus infections because of his bad case of reflux. He has constant conjestion and possibly aspirates because of the reflux.
  • Has just begun smiling and can track with his eyes pretty well. All on track for "5 week old" This is his adjusted age when looking at developmental growth.
  • Continue on oatmeal thickened formula and Prevacid. We will start spoon feedings about 3 1/2 months. He already takes the cereal in a bottle and the thicker spoon feedings will help with the reflux also.
  • Received 2 month shots. Slept much of the day. They put both boys on Tylenol for 24 hours to prevent fever and other possible side effects.
Aiden:
  • 10 pounds 8 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long.
  • Is smiling and tracks well. Doing wonderful developmentally. Still a little ahead of Alex.
  • Medicine and cereal same as Alex
  • Ran fever from shots and rather cranky, but much better this morning.

We go back in November for their 4 month and will also do Wesley's 3 year check up at the same time.

Going to School

Because our babysitter only had held one spot for us (before we knew we were having twins), we decided to move Wes to a new place. This will let the twins be together at a babysitter, and Wes can start a preschool program at the day care.

He has been so excited about starting school. Yesterday was his first day. He wanted to "dress nice" like he does for church. It was so cute!!! HE also had to go show his babysitter when I brought the twins there. Then he had to show his granny and MawMaw Maggie. He was really excited.

He had a wonderful time. The teacher said he fit in perfectly. He would not stop talking about it when he got in the car, but he did also say that he needed to go rest. I guess it is a lot more activity than he was having before. He was definately worn out last night.

He told us about the songs they sang, what they ate, the games they played, and how they painted a picture. He did not tell me what he painted only that it was orange and green. He also kept saying he made plenty of new friends.
As tired as he was, Wesley did nave enough energy to go jumping on his trampoline as he does every afternoon. Thanks Kelci and Nanna!!!

How they've grown

Wes, Alex, and Aiden on 7/26 (3 days old) and at 8 weeks

8 Weeks Already

They boys turned 8 weeks as of Sunday. I cannot
believe how fast this time has flown. Everyone I have met with twins says that 4 months is the magical time where everything clicks and becomes a little easier. We are half way there. It has already become much better with their new medicine and formula.

The boys are sleeping 4-5 hour stretches as night. During the day, they stay awake a lot more often. Aiden will stay awake for 1-2 hours after each bottle. He is starting to smile as we talk to him also. Alex is still sleeping a little more than this, but he is also starting to smile. Of course, they have only done it for us or my parents. They do not like to show off much I guess.

GO LSU!!

The boys are all ready for the LSU game this afternoon. Alex and Aiden surprised their dad with their new LSU gear for this game! Parrain Kirby and Nanny Heidi will like the "future tailgaters" shirts.

The boys are doing better with their reflux. I am on new medicine for the migraines and will be going to a neurologist for a more intensive check.

Camping

Saturday we went to see PawPaw's new hunting camp. Wesley had so much fun riding through the woods on the 4 wheelers, fishing, and playing. It was too funny (and cute as can be) how he wanted to stay with the men as they were setting up the deer stands and fixing the tractors. He is definately turning into a little boy and no longer just a toddler. OH, and his dad had just as much fun as he did.

The babies had plenty of hands to hold them, so they enjoyed themselves also. It definately be lots of fun in a few months when they are able to interact and play a little more.

Wesley fell asleep on a box as he was watching his PawPaw work on the tractor. He was completely worn out from working so hard.

Wesley and Aunt Gerry's fish -- let's try for a little bigger next time.

The Audubon Zoo

Yesterday, Daniel and I took Wesley to the zoo while the babies played at Granny's house. We had a wonderful time.
Taking a break with an iguana.

Dad and Wes with the elephants.

Wes with a rattle snake

Having fun climbing

Feeding the ducks

Dr Update

The boys are doing better the past couple of days. We have started adding cereal to their milk to thicken it. It has definately made a difference!

I have been put on a high blood pressure medicine that will also help prevent migraines. So far so good.

Another Eventful Day

Both boys have a very bad case of reflux. We brought them to the doctor on Friday. They are still gaining weight which is great. Alex was 7 pounds 14 ounces and Aiden was 8 pounds. We switched their medicine from Zantac to Prevacid. They seemed to be doing a little better but still suffering, so on Tuesday we switched them to a soy formula (per doctor's request). Well it looks like they both have an allergy to the soy milk. So after talking with Dr Peltier again, we put them back on the Good Start for a few days to get them to where they were before. I have to call tomorrow, and they will probably start a hyper-allergentic formula. Hopefully we can get this under control soon.

In the midst of everything happening yesterday with their allergy to the milk, I was having another migraine. Mom convinced me to go to the hospital to get a shot before it got too late and unmanageable. This was the 3rd in 3 weeks. The only problem with the shots is that it pretty much puts me out for 2 days. Luckily, my grandma and Nora came to help with the boys last night while Mom took me to the hospital and Daniel met us there. Then Mom took both of the boys home with her for the night. She is off this week so she kept them there today. I went there for most of the day but am still pretty out of it. I hope to sleep off the rest tonight. Mom has Alex and Aiden came home with us. I did also see a doctor today and received medicine to help prevent the migraines. I hope this helps.

Nana's Birthday

We boiled crabs for Nana's birthday, and afterwards, went for a ride in the lake. It was a beautiful day to be on the water. Wes loves going fast!

Uncle John and Kelci are relaxing with Wesley as we were going near some camps in the canal.

Wes wanted to go back before we even left. Kaci looks so cute here. Only about 3 months left to go!!!!! Parrain Daniel is still praying for a girl, but I think it will be a boy. Maybe that is just cause everyone is saying girl. It is about time for us to have a girl around.

Christening

Alex and Aiden were christened Sunday, and afterwards, we had a little reception at Granny and PawPaw's. It was a beautiful day. Wesley decided to be the photographer at the baptism and stole the show. Thank goodness Father Michael loves children.

Wesley and Gavin enjoyed making faces as Ethan played shy.

And Parrain Kirby put Alex and Aiden on the 4 wheeler for the first time.
