Busy Day

Wesley came help his Nanny move into her new house. He already claimed his room there. He will definately be lost without her living here anymore!

Welsey's friends came visit this afternoon. They were supposed to play in the pool and on the swing set but the rain would not stop all day.

Ethan was missing today, and now we have 3 more on the way. At least one is definately a girl -- finally!!!!

One Month Check-up

Alex and Aiden had their one month check up today. They are both weighing 7 pounds 2 ounces and are both 19 3/4 inches long. Alex has done a great job of catching up with his brother. Both are still really suffering with reflux so medicine was increased. We are also adding just a little cereal to their milk at night. At one month old Wes was also adding cereal, but since the twins had such trouble with weight gain for a while, he was hesitant on starting this, so we will try a little at night to begin. We are hoping this helps. For the most part, Alex has not slept more than 20 minutes or so without waking up with somach cramps (except this morning with Aiden -- over an hour)!!!!! If he sleeps longer it is because he is so exhausted, but still squirming a lot. Aiden is a little better but he spits up a lot more which is probably why he has not gained at the same rate as Alex. The cereal will also add a few extra calories, but they may eat a little less since it is more filling. Seeing them in pain is the worst feeling.

It is funny to say, but they are actually starting to look fat. I can't believe they have gained so much in only a few weeks.

How Cute

This morning both Alex and Aiden were a little cranky. I rocked them together for a little while but everytime I tried putting them down they would cry again. Then I put them together in the bouncy chair. I have not heard from them since! I could not help but take another cute picture of them together.

1st time dining out

We took the boys to a restaurant today for the first time. Granted, we took it easy and went to Western Sizzlin incase they were fussy. It is a louder restaurant and often has many kids. It would also be easy to leave if needed.

The boys did wonderful. After we ordered we fed each of them. As Alex as finishing his bottle, our food came out. They stayed pretty good the rest of the meal. I had the camera to take pictures, but we drew so much attention as it was that I decided not to take it out. It is rather hard to have a conversation and eat when so many eyes are on you. It was nice though. As least we know why everyone is looking and the compliments feel good.

As we were leaving, we ran into another couple with twin boys only a month older than they are. We had a very nice conversation with them and decided that we will have to try to get together with them and the boys since they live in Chackbay. Someone that lives rather close to them also had twin boys only a couple of weeks ago. I am not sure if their are any baby girls around. I guess something was sure in the water about 9 months ago.

Before we left we joked about taking all three boys eat out, but we decided we will wait a while for that.

One Month Old Today

Alex at one month -- sleeping soundly!
It is so hard to believe that the boys are one month old today. They are definately much stronger and bigger than a month ago. At times, they will fix their eyes on you when they are eating, but not much more than that. Premature babies are given extra time to reach developmental milestones. At this time, I have not even reached my due date, so they are not delayed in anything. It is amazing to see the difference from them to Wesley at one month old. It gives us something to look forward to in the next few weeks -- maybe even a real smile by the end of the 2nd month!! Our one month appoinment is Friday so we will have new weights and heights then. No vaccines yet -- yeah!

A Day Away

My mom and dad wanted us to go enjoy a nice meal out since it had been since May that I was able to do so. We went to Baton Rouge so I could go shopping for a little clothes also.

The boys enjoyed their day, although we missed them like crazy. Wesley helped to keep them from crying by slowly riding them in his wagon.

NO MORE HOSPITALS!!

I thought I was done with hospitals for the time being, but last night Daniel needed to bring into ER around 3:00 AM. I had been suffering from a horrible migraine since about 11:00. The last time I suffered from these was after I had Wesley. Luckily, the ER was not at all busy. I received a shot and had to be monitored for a while because my blood pressure was so high. The migraine could have been caused by either the high blood pressure or hormones adjusting from pregnancy. Hopefully this was the last time to the hospital for a while.

3 1/2 weeks

Weight Check today:
Alex gained almost a pound in a week. He now weighs 6 pounds 1 ounce.
Aiden gained 12 ounces and is at 6 pounds 5 ounces. They are getting so big!!

Both boys were also diagnosed with GERD and placed on Zantac. We suspected this earlier, but tried other things to help them (before placing them on medicine). After the past few nights of them being in pain after eating -- for hours -- we went ahead and started medicine.

Wesley loves helping his baby brothers! He always wants them on the floor so he can sing to them and hold their hand. Tonight, I secretly caught him holding Alex's hand and telling him "I love you."

3 weeks old!!

Tomorrow was the original date scheduled for my c-section, but today they are 3 weeks old! It seems like yesterday, but then we have gone through so much with hospital stays. They boys are eating much better now. They are not eating as much as a full term baby would but getting closer.

Wesley has enjoyed now that we are all home. He had fun cutting grass with Dad.

Photos of Alex and Aiden at 3 weeks. Wesley is 34 months (almost 3!)

Dr Appointment

Alex and Aiden had another weight check yesterday. They are still gaining weight. Alex gained 4 ounces and is now at 5 lbs 3 oz. Aiden gained 3 ounces and is now at 5lbs 9oz. It is so comforting that they are both over 5 lbs now.

Great Update!!!

Aiden and Alex had a follow up doctor's visit today and they grew so much.

Aiden is now back to his birth weight -- 5 pounds 6 ounces.
Alex is almost at his birth weight. He now weights 4 pounds 14 ounces -- only 1 1/2 ounces under birth weight. Each of them gained 7 ounces since they were discharged on Saturday. I guess the new formula and more frequent feedings are making a huge difference. Their weight gain will now slow down somewhat. They were playing catch up the past few days.

Home Again

Alex and Aiden were discharged from the hospital today. They gained weight 2 days and they are tolerating the new milk. We will be going back to the doctor on Monday for a weight check. I am sure this will be at least 2 times a week for now.

Alex was admitted at 4 pounds 7 ounces and discharged at 4 pounds 9.5 ounces (+2.5 ounces).
Aiden was admitted at 4 punds 12 ounces & discharged at 4 pounds 15.7 ounces (+3.7 ounces).

Wesley loves this picture of him helping PawPaw clean his big red fish.

Update

Alex and Aiden are doing well today. They have been eaing well, although still not where the doctor would like them. They will be put on a new formula for their next feeding. It is actually for premature babies and has more calories than a regular formula. this should help with the weight gain. Both babies did gain weight today which is a great sign. We have increased feedings to every 3 hours instead of 4. They will definately be in the hospital until tomorrow. It is pretty much a day by day thing after that!

Thanks for the prayers.

Back to the hospital

The boys had another appointment today to check their weights. Alex stayed at 4# 7 oz from Monday. We were hoping for a weight gain of at least an ounce a day. Aiden went from 5# to 4#12oz. Dr Peltier decided immediately that the hospital would be best to monitor them and work on increasing feedings and weight gain.

They were placed in the nursery, and since Thibodaux Regional does not have rooms for parents, we are allowed to go for visits but they suggest keeping them somewhat brief so they babies can get lots of rest. For now, Daniel and I are the only ones going in, then grandparents. They want to keep illnesses away from them. We came home for a little while because we cannot visit between 6 and 8. We are going back at 8 for a little while. I am not sure how long they will be in. We should hear from Dr Peltier today or tomorrow.

Please keep Alex and Aiden in your prayers!

1 Week Old

This week has gone by so fast, yet we are quickly settling into life with 2 babies and a toddler.

Alex and Aiden had their weight check yesterday. They should be gaining about an ounce day and be at their birth weight by the end of the week. Well, Aiden gained one ounce and is now and and even 5#. Alex lost an ounce and is now at 4# 7oz. Dr Peltier is a little concerned although since they are increasing their amounts of food daily, we will wait until the end of the week for another weight check to see if they start growing at the recommended rate. He was not necessarily more worried about Alex because he said they pretty much both stayed the same. He is still right at a 10% weight loss. If it gets more is when I think we get really concerned.
